ABOUT BHAWE

What is BHAWE?

BHAWE is an Indian clothing and
textile brand bringing together Indian craftsmanship, natural and
thoughtfully selected textiles, contemporary design and conscious consumption
.

We work with textiles and techniques
rooted in India's rich craft traditions and create products designed to be
worn, used and appreciated over time.

Where possible, we work in smaller
or considered production quantities to avoid unnecessary production and to give
greater attention to the materials and craft involved.

For us, Smart Fashion means understanding
what we wear, how it is made and how long we can enjoy it.

What does BHAWE mean by Smart Fashion?

At BHAWE, Smart Fashion means making thoughtful choices about what we wear, how it is made and how long we keep it.

It brings together design,
craftsmanship, material awareness, responsible production and conscious consumption.

Smart fashion is not simply about owning more
clothes. It is about understanding the value behind what we choose and wearing it thoughtfully.

Why choose BHAWE?

BHAWE brings together:

  • Indian textile traditions and craftsmanship
  • Natural and thoughtfully selected materials
  • Contemporary, wearable design
  • Small-batch or considered production where practical
  • Detailed information about fabrics and care
  • A focus on longevity and conscious consumption

We believe customers should be able to understand what they are buying rather than
rely only on broad sustainability claims

What makes BHAWE different?

BHAWE's approach sits at the
intersection of textiles, Indian craftsmanship, contemporary design and transparency.

We want to tell you not only what a
product looks like, but also what it is made from, how it has been produced, what makes the textile distinctive and how to care for it.

Our aim is to make Indian textiles and
craftsmanship easier to understand and appreciate in a contemporary context.

Whereare BHAWE products made?

BHAWE products are PROUDLY made in INDIA (BHARAT).

Depending on the product, different
stages such as spinning, weaving, dyeing, printing, embroidery, stitching and finishing may take place in different regions, workshops or production units.

Where specific information about the textile's origin or craft region is available, we aim to provide it on the relevant product page.

Are BHAWE products handmade?

The degree of handcraft varies from
product to product.

Some BHAWE textiles may involve
processes such as handloom weaving, handspinning, hand-dyeing, hand-printing or hand embroidery, while other stages may use machinery or modern equipment.

We aim to identify the relevant technique and material information on individual product pages rather than describe every product simply as "handmade."

Is handloom the same as handmade?

No.

Handloom refers specifically to the method used to weave fabric on a
loom operated without conventional power-driven weaving.

Handmade is a broader term that may refer to one or several manually
performed processes.

A handloom textile can involve both hand and mechanised processes at different stages of production.

FABRICS & MATERIALS

What Fabrics does BHAWE use?

Depending on the collection, BHAWE may work with:

  • Cotton
  • Linen
  • Silk
  • Handspun Yarns
  • Natural-fibre blends
  • Other thoughtfully selected textile materials

The exact fibre composition is provided on the individual product page wherever applicable

Are all BHAWE fabrics natural?

Not necessarily.

We use a range of natural and
thoughtfully selected textile materials, and some products may contain blends.

The actual fibre composition of each
product should be treated as the most reliable information. Please refer to the
individual product description and product label where available.

Are natural fabrics automatically sustainable?

No.

A natural fibre is not automatically
sustainable simply because it comes from a natural source.

A textile's overall impact can
depend on factors including:

  • How the fibre is grown or produced
  • Water and energy use
  • Processing and dyeing
  • Spinning and weaving
  • Transportation
  • Product durability
  • How the garment is washed and used
  • How long it remains in use
  • What happens to it at the end of its life

At BHAWE, we prefer to provide specific information about materials and processes rather than make blanket claims.

Does BHAWE use organic cotton?

Where a product uses certified
organic cotton
, the relevant certification or information will be
identified on the product page or accompanying documentation where applicable.

We do not describe conventional cotton as organic.

What is the difference between natural and synthetic fibres?

Natural fibres originate from
sources such as plants or animals. Examples include cotton, linen and silk.

Synthetic fibres are generally
manufactured using chemical processes and may include materials such as polyester or nylon.

Neither category alone tells the complete sustainability story. Fibre origin, processing, durability, use and end-of-life all matter.

Are natural-fibre blends bad?

Not necessarily.

A blend may be selected to achieve a
particular texture, durability, drape, performance or price.

The most useful information is the actual fibre composition, which BHAWE aims to provide clearly for each product.

How can I identify the fabric in a BHAWE product?

Please refer to the product description and fibre composition listed for that product.

If you need additional information
before purchasing, contact us at support@bhawe.com.

We do not recommend relying on home tests such as burning fabric to identify fibre composition.

Whati s the difference between pure silk and artificial silk?

Pure silk is made from silk fibres produced by silkworms.

Terms such as artificial silk,
imitation silk or silk-look fabric can refer to materials designed to resemble silk but made from other fibres.

Always check the stated fibre composition rather than relying only on the appearance or word "silk" in a product name.

What is cotton?

Cotton is a natural cellulose fibre
obtained from the cotton plant.

Its feel, strength, breathability and appearance can vary considerably depending on the cotton variety, yarn, spinning method,
weave, finishing and fabric weigh.

What is linen?

Linen is a natural fibre made from
the flax plant.

It is known for its breathability,
natural texture and characteristic tendency to crease.

The creasing of linen is generally part of its natural appearance rather than a defect.

What is silk?

Silk is a natural protein fibre
produced by silkworms.

It is valued for its softness, lustre, drape and distinctive hand feel. Different silk varieties and weaving methods can produce very different textures and appearances.

How do I choose between cotton, linen and silk?

As a general guide:

  • Cotton often suited for Everyday
wear, breathable clothing and versatile use.
  • Linen often suited for Warm
weather, relaxed silhouettes and textured clothing
  • Silk often suited for Occasion
wear, elegant drape and refined textures

Actual performance depends on the particular fibre, yarn, weave, weight and finishing.

INDIAN CRAFT & TEXTILE TECHNIQUES

What is handwoven fabric?

Handwoven fabric is produced using a loom operated manually rather than a conventional power-driven weaving process.

Because of the nature of handweaving, subtle variations in yarn thickness, texture, weave density or
colour may occur.

These characteristics can be part of the individuality of the textile.

What is handspun yarn?

Handspun yarn is yarn produced
through a manual spinning process.

Because the yarn is produced by
hand, it may contain natural variations in thickness and texture.

These variations can contribute to the
distinctive character of the resulting fabric.

Is handspun the same as handloom?

No.

They describe different stages.

Handspun refers to how the yarn is made.

Handloom refers to how the yarn is woven into fabric.

A textile can therefore be handspun, handwoven, both, or neither.

Why are there small variations in my BHAWE textile?

Small variations can occur in
handcrafted and naturally processed textiles.

You may notice differences in:

  • Colour
  • Texture
  • Yarn thickness
  • Weave
  • Motif placement
  • Surface irregularities

Natural dyes and hand processes can
also produce subtle batch-to-batch variations.

These characteristics do not automatically indicate a defect.

What are slubs in fabric?

A slub is a thicker or irregular
section of yarn that creates a visible variation in the fabric surface.

Slubs can occur naturally in certain yarns, particularly handspun or textured yarns, and may be an intentional or inherent characteristic of the textile.

What is a fabric defect?

A natural textile variation is
different from a product defect.

Examples of potential defects may
include:

  • Significant holes or tears
  • Major construction problems
  • Serious stitching failure
  • Incorrect product supplied
  • Damage caused before delivery

If you believe your product has a defect, contact us within the timeframe specified in our Returns & Exchanges Policy (Domestic & International )with your order details and photographs.

What is Silk Mark?

Silk Mark is an authentication and
quality-assurance initiative associated with genuine silk products under the relevant Indian framework.

Where a BHAWE product carries
applicable certification or marking, the product page or accompanying
information will specify it.

Certification should not be assumed for products where it is not stated.

What is Handloom Mark?

The Handloom Mark is an Indian
identification and assurance initiative intended to distinguish genuine
handloom products.

Where applicable, BHAWE will identify relevant certification or marking on the product or product information.

NATURAL DYES & COLOUR

What are natural dyes?

Natural dyes are colourants obtained
from natural sources such as plants, minerals or other naturally occurring
materials.

The final colour can be influenced by the dye source, fibre, water, mordant, dyeing method, temperature and other production conditions.

Are naturally dyed fabrics colourfast?

Natural dyes can be colourfast, but
their behaviour differs according to the dye, fibre, dyeing process and
finishing.

Some naturally dyed textiles may
gradually change in tone with washing, sunlight, use and time.

Following the specific care instructions provided with the product can help preserve the colour.

Why can natural-dyed colours vary?

Natural dyeing can produce subtle
variations between batches because natural materials and processing conditions are not always identical.

This may result in slight
differences in shade, depth or tone.

For this reason, the colour shown on your screen may also differ slightly from the physical textile.

How should I care for naturally dyed clothing?

Unless a product's specific care
instructions state otherwise:

  • Wash gently in cool or cold water.
  • Avoid prolonged soaking.
  • Use a mild detergent.
  • Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals.
  • Dry in shade rather than prolonged direct sunlight.
  • Avoid unnecessary friction.
  • Follow the individual product's care label.

For particularly delicate textiles, please follow the product-specific instructions rather than general recommendations.

SUSTAINABILITY & TRANSPARENCY

Is every BHAWE product 100% sustainable?

We do not believe it is meaningful
to describe a product as universally or absolutely "100% sustainable.

A textile's impact involves many
stages, including fibre production, processing, dyeing, weaving, manufacturing, transportation, use, care and end-of-life.

Instead, BHAWE aims to make more thoughtful choices and provide specific product information so customers can make informed
decisions.

What does sustainability mean at BHAWE?

Our approach considers factors such
as:

  • Material selection
  • Indian textile traditions
  • Thoughtful production quantities
  • Craft and production processes
  • Product durability
  • Packaging choices
  • Responsible consumption
  • Product care and longevity

We view sustainability as an ongoing process rather than a single label

Does BHAWE use eco-friendly materials?

We prefer specific material
descriptions over the broad term "eco-friendly."

Depending on the product, this may
include natural fibres, recycled materials or other considered textile choices.

The relevant fibre composition and product information should always be checked on the individual product page.

Does BHAWE use eco-friendly packaging?

We aim to make considered packaging
choices and use recyclable, reusable, compostable or lower-impact packaging
options where practical and appropriate.

Packaging can vary according to product, order size and shipping requirements.

How does BHAWE support Indian craftsmanship?

BHAWE works with Indian textile
traditions and craft processes and seeks to bring greater visibility and
appreciation to the people, techniques and materials behind Indian textiles.

Where specific information about a craft, region or production process is available, we aim to share it rather than make broad unsupported claims.

Does BHAWE guarantee fair wages to artisans?

Where specific wage or producer
arrangements are verified and documented, relevant information may be shared.

We avoid making blanket claims about fair wages or ethical production unless they accurately reflect our current sourcing and contractual practices.

Why doesn't BHAWE simply call everything "sustainable fashion"?

Because sustainability is more
complicated than a single label.

A fabric can have one positive
characteristic while having other environmental or social considerations elsewhere in its supply chain.

BHAWE therefore prefers specific,
transparent information over broad claims
.

Our goal is to tell you:

What the material is → how it was made → where
it comes from → how to care for it → how to make it last.

PRODUCT CARE & LONGEVITY

How should I wash BHAWE clothing?

Always prioritise the care
instructions provided with the individual product.

Depending on the textile, care may
involve:

  • Gentle hand washing
  • Machine washing on a suitable delicate cycle
  • Cool or cold water
  • Mild detergent
  • Shade drying
  • Low-temperature ironing

Silk, naturally dyed textiles and other delicate fabrics may require specialised care.

Dark colors fabrics are recommended to wash separately .

Will natural fabrics shrink?

Some natural fibres can experience
dimensional change after washing.

The amount depends on factors such
as fibre, yarn, weave, finishing and washing conditions.

Following the care instructions can help
minimise unwanted shrinkage.

Does linen wrinkle?

Yes. Linen naturally develops
creases because of the characteristics of the fibre and fabric structure.

These creases are generally considered part of linen's natural appearance.

Why can cotton become softer with use?

Cotton fabrics can become softer
over time as the fibres and fabric structure respond to repeated washing and use.

The degree of softening depends on the fibre, yarn, weave, finishing and washing method.

How can I make my BHAWE clothing last longer?

A few simple practices can help:

  • Wash only when necessary.
  • Follow the product's care instructions.
  • Use gentle detergents.
  • Avoid unnecessary high heat.
  • Dry appropriately for the fabric.
  • Store delicate textiles carefully.
  • Repair minor damage where possible.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight when inappropriate for the fabric.

The longest-lasting garment is often the one that is cared for and worn for years.

What should I do when I no longer want my BHAWE garment?

Before disposal, consider whether
the garment can be:

  1. Repaired
  2. Altered
  3. Reused
  4. Repurposed
  5. Donated
  6. Passed on to another person

Extending the useful life of a textile is an important part of more conscious consumption.

SAREES

What is a saree fall?

A saree fall is a strip of fabric
generally attached along the lower inner edge of a saree.

It can provide additional structure and support to the portion of the saree that experiences repeated contact and movement during wearing.

Does every saree need a fall?

No.

The need for a fall depends on the
saree's fabric, construction, intended use and personal preference.

Some lightweight or specialised
sarees may not require one.

Where BHAWE offers fall stitching, the product page will indicate whether it is included or available.

Where is the fall attached?

Traditionally, the fall is attached
along the lower portion of the saree, generally supporting the area involved in
the drape and pleats.

Exact placement can vary according to the saree and stitching method.

Can I buy a saree without a fall?

Where the product is offered without
fall stitching, yes.

If a saree is sold with a stitched fall or another alteration, please check the applicable product and return conditions before purchase.

Can I customise my saree?

Selected products may be eligible
for customisation depending on the fabric, design, size, quantity and
production requirements.

Available options may include fall
stitching, blouse-related requirements or other services where specifically offered.

Please contact us before placing an order if you require a custom request.

What is a ready-to-wear saree?

A ready-to-wear saree is a saree
specifically designed or altered to be worn in a ready-to-use format.

A saree should not be assumed to be
ready-to-wear simply because it has a fall, pico or other stitching.

Only products explicitly described as
ready-to-wear should be considered ready-to-wear.

Does a saree include a blouse piece?

This varies by product.

Please check the individual product description for the exact saree length and whether a blouse piece is included.

Is the blouse piece included in the stated saree length?

This depends on the construction and
product specification.

The product page should be treated as the definitive source for the dimensions and included components of each saree.

Can the blouse piece be customised?

Customisation may be possible for
selected products or bulk orders, subject to fabric availability, design and
production requirements.

Please contact BHAWE before ordering if you need a specific blouse-piece requirement.

Is a saree with fall eligible for return?

A saree may be eligible for return
if it otherwise satisfies the applicable Returns & Exchanges Policy.

However, products that have been
altered, customised, worn, washed or otherwise modified may be excluded.

Please check the return conditions before requesting customisation.

SWATCH BOOKS

What is a BHAWE swatch book?

A BHAWE swatch book is a curated
collection of textile samples designed to help customers understand:

  • Texture
  • Weight
  • Weave
  • Drape
  • Hand feel
  • Fibre composition

Swatch books can be particularly useful for designers, boutiques, students, textile enthusiasts and customers planning larger purchases.

What fabrics are included?

The selection depends on the current
BHAWE collection.

Swatch books may include cotton,
linen, silk, blends and other available textiles.

The exact contents may change over time.

Can I request specific fabrics in a swatch book?

Where possible, BHAWE may
accommodate specific fabric interests.

Please mention the intended use or fabric preference when contacting us.

How large are the swatches?

Standard swatches may be
approximately 6 × 6 inches (15.24 x 15.24 cm), subject to the format and availability of the particular swatch book.

Special Requests
-Larger swatches (A4 size) or meter samples available at pro-rata cost + shipping.
-For custom dyeing/finishing trials, minimum charges apply (to be quoted separately).
-Swatches are non-returnable & non-exchangeable as they are cut to order

Can swatch-book fees be redeemed against a purchase?

Yes! Refundable on bulk order (swatch fee adjusted in first invoice) within 60 Days. This way, you get genuine swatches, and we both commit to serious business.

If no order is placed within 60 Days, fees are treated as a service charge (nonrefundable).

Refund applies only for the swatch designs that move into bulk order.
Not for all swatches a customer tried unless the customer buy all those in bulk.

Why can the swatch colour look different from the final product?

Colours can appear different because of:

  • Screen settings
  • Lighting
  • Photography
  • Natural dye variation
  • Different production batches
  • Fabric surface and weave

A physical swatch is therefore a useful reference, but even a swatch may not guarantee an exact colour match across different production batches.

TEXTILE KNOWLEDGE

What is GSM?

GSM means grams per square metre.

It indicates the weight of a fabric
per square metre.

A higher GSM generally indicates a heavier fabric, but GSM alone does not determine softness, quality, durability or
suitability.

What is yarn count?

Yarn count describes the fineness or
coarseness of yarn according to the counting system used.

Different yarn-count systems apply to different fibre and yarn types, so the number should always be interpreted in context.

What is denier?

Denier is a measurement commonly
used to describe the linear mass of fibres or yarns.

It is particularly associated with
manufactured and filament fibres.

It should not be used on its own to determine whether a textile is high quality or sustainable.

What is ply?

Ply refers to the number of
individual yarn strands twisted or combined together to form a yarn.

For example, a two-ply yarn combines
two strands.

Ply can affect strength, texture and appearance, but it is not by itself a measure of quality.

What is yarn twist?

Yarn twist refers to the amount and
direction of twist introduced into yarn.

Twist influences characteristics such as
strength, texture, firmness and drape.

What is weave?

Weave describes the way yarns are
interlaced to create fabric.

Common weave structures include plain weave, twill and satin, with many regional and specialised variations.

protect customer information and uses appropriate service providers and systems for website, payment, logistics and customer-support functions.

No online system can be guaranteed to be completely risk-free.

A NOTE ON TRANSPARENCY

How does BHAWE verify product information?

BHAWE aims to provide product
information based on available sourcing, production and material documentation.

Where a claim depends on a
certification, test, supplier declaration or other documentation, it should be represented accurately and only where applicable.

If information is not known or cannot be substantiated, BHAWE prefers not to present it as a certainty.

Why does BHAWE provide so much textile information?

Because we believe a conscious
purchase starts with understanding.

Knowing the fibre, yarn, weave,
craft technique, origin, care requirements and expected characteristics of a textile helps customers make better decisions and appreciate the work behind
what they wear.

For BHAWE, transparency is not simply a sustainability claim.

It is part of the product experience.

What if I have a question that isn't answered here?

We would be happy to help.

Contact us at support@bhawe.com and include the product name, order number or textile you are asking about whenever relevant.

We will provide the most accurate information available for your specific request.

IMPORTANTNOTE

Product availability, shipping
