Swatch Policy

HOW TO USE YOUR SWATCH KIT

Discover the Fabric. Understand the Craft. Create with Confidence.

1. Identify Your Swatches

Each swatch is tagged with a unique SKU and organized into one of four categories:

  • Silk
  • Plant
  • Artisanal
  • Heritage

Use the SKU printed on each swatch to find its detailed specifications in the accompanying catalogues on this page  and Excel sheets provided.

2. Understand Your Fabric Samples

Each swatch measures approximately 6 × 6 inches (15.24 × 15.24 cm), allowing you to explore the fabric’s texture, weave, colour, and finish before making your selection.

3. Choose Your Swatch Collection

You can select individual fabrics you would like to explore or request a curated swatch kit tailored to your needs.

Curated kits can be arranged around your season, collection, or region.

For first-time international buyers, we recommend curated kits to simplify selection and help optimize shipping costs.

OUR SWATCH SAMPLES

Weaving the Future with Threads of the Past

1. Made on Demand, with Purpose

At BhaWe, we work closely with artisans to create fabrics on demand, helping reduce overproduction and material waste. Each handloom swatch is sourced fresh from the loom, while powerloom samples may follow a different production process.

2. Customization to Suit Your Needs

Depending on your requirements, fabrics may be customized to different GSM (grams per square metre) weights. The possibilities depend on the weaving technique, loom setup, artisan capabilities, and natural yarns used.

Share your desired GSM and intended application with us so we can explore suitable options.

3. Understanding Natural Variations in GSM

Handloom and handspun fabrics carry the natural variations that make each piece unique. For this reason, we allow an approximate ±10 GSM variation when working with these fabrics.

For example, if a fabric is specified within a 90–120 GSM range, individual samples may vary according to the weave and production process. The final GSM should be confirmed against the specific fabric specification.

These variations are part of the character of handcrafted textiles, not necessarily a flaw.

4. A More Thoughtful Way to Sample

Our swatch process helps you assess fabric suitability before committing to a larger order. By working with artisans on demand and encouraging informed selection, we aim to support more responsible production and reduce unnecessary waste.

5. Need Help Choosing?

Whether you know the exact fabric you need or would like guidance exploring our collections, we are happy to help you find the right match for your vision.

Explore thoughtfully. Create consciously. Keep the craft alive.
